His posthumous album, Phillips 66 was released a few months later. The saddest part is that, as time went on, Mackenzie became somewhat comfortable with the peculiar dynamic between her and her father. By 1968 Cass decided she wanted to sing solo. This led to television work, including a variety program, , which ran for one season in 1978. She played the recurring character Pam Valentine, the leader of a female veteran therapy group. This is why the sound quality of Mamas and Papas' reissues does not match the best from the 1960s. She returned later that night to perform the second show, but her voice was worse, and many of the audience noisily walked out. Cass had been with groups before the Mugwumps and the Big Three , but these were not particularly successful. A lawsuit and countersuit between the band and label were settled out of court, and it was determined that the band would record under John Phillips's label, Warlock Records, distributed by Dunhill Records. While attending Forest Park High School, Elliot became interested in acting. They were tearing this club apart in the islands, revamping it, putting in a dance floor. An urban legend claimed that Cass died from choking on a ham sandwich, which turned out to be a rumor started by her doctor. This was America's answer to the British invasion. The addictions affected the group's performance, as it was occasionally booed off stage. The video released in 1982 was dedicated to Cass Elliot, as was the album released in 2005. The information apparently had a devastating effect on her during her formative years. It was 1974 and Cass was ecstatic that she was going to London to play The Palladium. The story of the group was new then, though by 1968 there must have been a thousand groups that told variants of it.
